“Buy Kingdom Gold”
SLIDE 3 “TREASURE CHEST Scripture”
Revelation 3: 18 “I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.”
Jesus speaking thru Angel of the church, a message to the 7 churches of Revelation- all 7 churches. Identifies each church / “I know your deeds” / reproves or encourages / final charge to wake up, repent, overcome
Example no perfect church / all judged by Christ / all depend on Christ
3 points today why we desire to be stirred or filled in our anointing / all through Holy Spirit
SLIDE 4 2 Timothy 1: 6
2 Timothy 1:6 (NLT)
6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.
This is our context for anointing in this message today
SLIDE 5 Anointing
anointing - the act of applying oil or an oily liquid (to the head or some other part of the body); especially in order to dedicate a person or object to a particular service or function.
trait or character - (in order) 1) kingdom 2) behavior 3) produce 4) reaping (blessings)
SLIDE 6
1) His anointing teaches
gives revelation and understanding - the enemy takes away what is not a spiritually appraised or understood
SLIDE 7 1 John 2: 26-27
1 John 2:26–27 (NASB95)
These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you.
As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
SLIDE 8
Anointing / Holy Spirit - revelation, understanding, (abides in Him) secured
Enemy- takes away what is not revealed, understood or abides in Christ
SLIDE 9
Mark 4: 14-15 “The sower sows the word. “These are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them.”
The anointing by the Holy Spirit brings revelation of God’s word and secures it spiritually in our hearts
The next point of what Anointing of the Holy Spirit does
SLIDE 10
1) His anointing teaches
2) His anointing consecrates-dedication to service
SLIDE 11 Exodus 30: 30
Exodus 30:30 (NASB95)
30 “You shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister as priests to Me.
Jesus makes us holy, dedicates us to serve the Lord (important -minister to the Lord) minister- act or carry out duties as priests / serve
we are a kingdom of priest unto our God Rev 1:6
what was the priest order of service to God? make a place for God to dwell, before that? 1) enter gate 2) sacrifice 3) wash 4) enter door 5) eat bread 6) burn incense 7) light menorah 8) enter holy of holies
amazing how much more we could do and more effectively if we would just carry out our priestly duty first
you know what the priest would do after that? took oil mixed with perfume and spices and anointed furniture and utensils, the veil, the altar.
The oil was not to be poured on anyone except a priest Ex 30: 32 ‘It shall not be poured on anyone’s body, nor shall you make any like it in the same proportions; it is holy, and it shall be holy to you.” A very personal and sacred thing God set s apart for His priest
SLIDE 12 Ruth 3: 3
Ruth 3:3 (NASB95)
3 “Wash yourself therefore, and anoint yourself and put on your best clothes, and go down to the threshing floor
Naomi telling Ruth to be prepared to impress or show her love to Boaz
wait till he is finished eating and drinking, lies down, uncover his feet and lay next to Him-”He will tell you what to do”
Too many of us may be frustrated in serving God because we haven’t asked to be anointed for service / or how about yielded for service - then anointing comes - then we will know what to do!
Last point for what God’s anointing does for us
SLIDE 13
1) His anointing teaches
2) His anointing consecrates-dedication to service
3) His anointing gives courage (difficult times / before enemies)
SLIDE 14 Psalm 23: 4-5
Psalm 23:4–5 (NASB95)
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
If you really want the feel the affect of anointing in times of distress, here is The Message translation “You serve me a six course meal right in front of my enemies” “You revive my drooping head and my cup brims with blessings”
*Have you noticed the chaos and outburst of anger and no self control these days in our world- unchurched, no family biblical or spiritual influence, lawlessness
*Trying to do good in life, law keeping, typically self control - Either the churched, family biblical and spiritual influence or been around those with spiritual influence
*The Christian - a good citizen, law keeping, family influence, growing in the Lord / word
*so what could The Christian (last described) be compared to in Revelation? Luke Warm
*Whats the next step? 2 Timothy 1: 6 “fan the flames of the gift within us”
Here is what Jesus tells the church to do (He is talking to the church not just one or two)
Give ourselves the best opportunity to be stirred or fan the spiritual flames in us
What would these opportunities look like? .... Number 1
SLIDE 15
1) acknowledge our spiritual state / condition
1) admit our spiritual state (is it luke warm?/ how is this state described / what prevents us to see it?) Revelation 3: 17
SLIDE 16 Revelation 3: 17
Revelation 3:17 (NLT)
17 You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.
Do not misunderstand the rich part, so many of us do and then we end up breaking a commandment “thou shall not covit” If you make $20 a week you are probably poor, in many countries thats about max pay. Our comfort level here hinders us, we have to overcome that and realize how its affected our spiritual condition and quit buying the world’s junk
Whats next step....Number 2) buy from God (from His kingdom) Revelation 3: 18
SLIDE 17
1) acknowledge our spiritual state / condition
2) buy from God (from His kingdom)
SLIDE 18 Revelation 3: 18
18 “Here’s what I want you to do: Buy your gold from me, gold that’s been through the refiner’s fire. Then you’ll be rich. Buy your clothes from me, clothes designed in Heaven. You’ve gone around half-naked long enough. And buy medicine for your eyes from me so you can see, really see.
Our next step as a church body Number 3.....
3) receive His discipline, be zealous and repent. Revelation 3: 19 (zealous- deeply committed)
SLIDE 19
1) acknowledge our spiritual state / condition
2) buy from God (from His kingdom)
3) receive His discipline / repent
SLIDE 20 Revelation 3: 19
19 “The people I love, I call to account—prod and correct and guide so that they’ll live at their best. Up on your feet, then! About face! Run after God!
Last point or step Number 4.....
4) hear His voice and open our door Revelation 3: 20
SLIDE 21
1) acknowledge our spiritual state / condition
2) buy from God (from His kingdom)
3) receive His discipline / repent
4) hear His voice and open our heart
Reward - Jesus sits down to dine with us at the Father’s throne
SLIDE 22 Revelation 3: 20-21
20 “Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you. 21 Conquerors will sit alongside me at the head table, just as I, having conquered, took the place of honor at the side of my Father. That’s my gift to the conquerors!
close / prayer
